Age: | 44 | Background: | If you're a fan of house music and enjoy the dance scene, particularly in the South Coast & London, there's every chance you will have come across James Good.
For James it all began in Ibiza during the late 90s when he was asked to play for the Manumission workers' bar after just 1 year of mixing in the comfort of his bedroom. This was a giant leap for James from which he has never looked back.
James has been a passionate, dedicated figure on the South Coast house scene, both as a DJ and a promoter since launching ‘Houseworx' with a residency at Winchester's Molokos during 2005. Houseworx soon became a recognised brand making it into a range of clubs including Junk Club, one of the most popular nightclubs in the South.
In the early years of the ‘noughties' James entertained clubbers at some of the South's most notorious night spots including The Old Fire Station, Spitbank Fort, The White House, Drift, Mud Club, Club EQ, Tantrum, Bamboo Bar, The Lizard Lounge, Bar Bluu, Molokos, and The Venue, as well as a collection of boat parties and exciting unlisted events.
During 2005 James was invited to play at Turnmills after coming a close second in a national DJ competition. His control of the turntables had been noticed and he was asked to play for Pukka Up and again for The Gallery a few months later.
The next few years saw James visiting London on a regular basis, playing for The White House, Heaven, Aquarium, Club Supreme, WildChild and various venues for Full Soul records (a London based soulful house label).
From 2007 James teamed up with other recognised brands to host house events at venues across the South, ranging from Brighton to Bournemouth, which led to further residencies, one being at Foggy's later that year. Since then Foggy's has been a main base for James and Houseworx, but in addition he has fulfilled his ambitions and played for brands such as Pacha, Ministry Of Sound, Hed Kandi, DJ Mag, Manumission & We Love...
In 2009 James took a trip to Ibiza following an invitation from the infamous Bar M, Itaca and Pukka Up, which proved to be a move in the right direction. This decision reassured James' love of house music and has led him to aspire to further International projects, including a trip back to Ibiza this summer.
While on the decks he thrives off the buzz of the crowd, pushing an exciting blend of punchy, vocal house, but isn't afraid to be diverse by throwing in some twisted beats, electro and breaks. This unique style comes from his early influences: Masters at Work, Todd Terry, Eric Morillo & Roger Sanchez, mixed with later inspirations from Krafty Kutz, Norman Cook, and incredible turntablists such as Yoda & The Scratch Perverts.
James is all about the love of house music and never gives up spreading the message. Keeping the original spirit of house music in mind James is constantly exploring new sounds and new technology while continuing his adventure to become one of the most compelling DJs around. | Birthday: | 10th December 1980 | Height: | 5' 11'' | Hobbies: | Downhill MTB, Track & Drifting, Graphic Design | Home Town: | Southampton | Job: | Graphic Designer | Location: | Hampshire | Male / Female: | Male | Nationality: | English | Smoker / Non-Smoker: | Depends what's in it | Currently Listening To: | silence | Music Preferences | House, Funky House, US House, Vocal House, Breaks. |
