Sugarshaker's vital statistics
Age:48
Background: Sugarshaker – The story so far…

Sugarshaker’s first attempt at mixing was approximately 2 years ago and although initially she was quite apprehensive it very quickly became her goal to win over the decks, before setting out to win the hearts of the clubbers!

It seems that fate has played a big part in Sugarshaker’s journey to become a successful DJ; having worked for a radio station running the on-air club promotions meant she made many contacts in the industry, including Bobkat duo Marcus and Matt Thorne (L n’ M Projekt – Everywhere chart position number 35) and producer Leeroy (also of L n’ M Projekt fame) who guided her along the right path towards her first gig at Housework (www.myspace.com/welovehousework) on NYE 2004! Since that NYE set nothing can stop the girl, determined to get her self known by all in the industry-and if she can get a promoter to listen to her mix, you can guarantee Sugarshaker will get her set!

During 2005/2006 she regularly played alongside Marc Vedo (Slinky/Koolwaters) in London (Beduin bar) and Bristol (Fez Club); as well as warming up for Pete Tong (Radio 1) at Koolwaters 5th Birthday party alongside Deepgroove and Bobkat. More recently she will be been found filling the dance floor every month at Housework (‘best club night in the South West’ DJ Mag) for DJ’s including Fergie (Radio 1), Oliver Lang (Dusted) and James Algate (Godskitchen). In October 2006, due to the demand from clubbers for her bouncy and uplifting sets, Sugarshaker was officially awarded a residency at Housework (www.houseworksucks.co.uk) and plans to help the promoters to grow the success of the night outside of the South West.
2006 also saw Sugarshaker win the opportunity to play at the extremely popular ‘Plastic’ @ Dragon Eye in Birmingham (www.myspace.com/plasticbirmingham) and has since been invited to play there regularly in 2007 as well as at the new ‘PlasticSelect’ in Sutton Coldfield. To add to this success Sugarshaker is working closely with an agency in France, Redlight Productions (www.redlightproductions.fr) to secure regular gigs there and already has 2 confirmed bookings…it’s all go, go, go!

Although Sugarshaker only has a relatively short history in the music industry she realised the importance of producing her own stuff very quickly, so has already turned her hand to production. Working closely alongside producer Leeroy they have completed 4 Electro House tracks that have had some amazing feedback from labels including Azuli and Toolroom:

‘This is good! Very well produced’ Nick Crombie (Azuli) – Track 1 ‘Come to me’

‘Really like the track but unfortunately its not quite right for the label at the moment, good luck with the project I am sure it will do well for you, please keep us updated with future projects’ Stuart Knight (Toolroom) – ‘Come to me’

‘Just keep on sending the bits through the talent is definitely there!!’ Stuart Knight (Toolroom) – Track 3 ‘Dysfunktional’

The interest that Sugarshaker and Leeroy have had from the record labels mentioned, has given them a huge amount of confidence and since the initial feedback, they now have 3/4 labels interested in their tracks and are currently reviewing contracts. They are looking for the tracks to be signed and ready for release by the spring; in the meantime they continue to work on new tracks with number 5 about to be completed!

Sugarshaker’s determination to succeed is highlighted by the fact that she even co-writes her lyrics with Leeroy and she sings all of her own vocals – pretty impressive for a starter!

Track details: Leeroy presents Sugarshaker:

1. Come to me
2. Too far
3. Dysfunktional
4. On my way

In summary, Sugarshaker’s passion for music has been life-long and with her business acumen and determination it won’t be long before she is in high demand as a DJ and Producer - definitely one to look out for in 2007, so the boys better move over…..
