The original mix here is a vocal trance track with a huge slice of prog thrown in. I’m not usually a fan of the progier side of Trance but this one has its plus points. It’s a very intelligent piece, always evolving it seems, with lots of sounds and almost no set pattern to them. An excellent vocal performance is matched by some excellent use of FX to make it more than just a vocal but part of the track in its own right. It’s missing a discernable breakdown of any real measure but I can forgive it for that, and although it won’t get me into the genre in a big way it’s certainly something I wouldn’t mind hearing on a night out.
The Sebastian Brandt remix is, however, where it is definitely at. Solid kicks, quirky glitches and a cool bass give this tune power and drive from the start, with the vocal fitting in even better over the top that it did in the original. The key changes work with the vocal to create an incredibly emotive piece of music that’s practically perfect. The breakdown doesn’t let the opening phrases down either, with some subtle guitar mixed in with lush synth and the vocal, now taking centre stage. I’m usually a bit “meh” with big vocals in Trance, but this is a gem that I would recommend to anybody. And to cap it off, it’s available with a Dub mix, but why you’d want that I don’t know because the vocal doesn’t get used enough to ever become annoying.
