Age: | 38 | Background: | At the age of fifteen, the classic trance music of 1998/9 first came to my attention. I started buying the compilation CDs that were being released at the time. I was heavily into music at this stage as I had already been playing the piano for five years. So my desire to explore electronic trance music grew. When I heard the tunes being ‘mixed’ together so skilfully, creating such quality sounds, I was inspired to replicate that, for myself.
Six years, five sets of decks and quite a few hours of practice later, the passion is ever strong and I enjoy sharing my passion for trance with like minded people.
I play music from across the trance spectrum: my musical style has expanded since I started DJ-ing, so you will now hear me spinning a blend of progressive, uplifting, hard and tech trance. My musical style is heavily influenced by energetic and uplifting breakdowns answered by big basslines. The music has to be moody and euphoric (check out the demo!).
For the last five years I have impressed my unique style upon the underground dance circuit in South East Essex. I have secured regular slots at some of the most successful nights including Liberation, Beatific, Hard Euphoria, Solar Stone, Royal Trance and Transpire etc.
Also in this time, I spent a year as a resident trance DJ on pirate Premier 88.6 FM (South East England) as well as continuing to play at big parties in and around the area. I also held a weekly residency for just over a year, on Unite radio, an Internet based dance music radio station.
At a more serious level, I have played for a new promotion hosted by the famous “Knowwhere” brand, called “Somewhere”. This event was held at the Heaven nightclub, London.
When performing, I have always tried to fuse quality uplifting trance music with a genuine positive attitude towards each of my audiences. This has really allowed me to connect with the audiences, and I enjoy sharing the enthusiasm for the moment with them! That sense of connection with the clubbers is priceless; this is the most rewarding part of DJ-ing for me.
I currently study at the University of London (Queen Mary College) and so am trying to find a balance between promoting myself as an up-and-coming DJ, and studying for a degree…not easy! In the last year I have also started to produce music. With my music training from an early age, I hope this is something I will be able to develop in the near future. Once I have completed my degree in May 2008, I will invest more fully into this.
